Idea of Death

Oo. According to my mom, my grandmother is in the hospital. Apparently she nearly died in my uncle’s house today or something. Stupidly, my retarded uncle brought her to a polyclinic at Bukit batok, when by the way, he lives in Changi. She was than rushed to some hospital near the polyclinic after that. She has some disease called UTI, something to do with the urinary system or her bowels. I’m no doctor so I am not that sure.

Really just struck me that I would be sad if she just died like that, usually I find her a nag and a nuisance, but I guess at the end of the day, she is still my grandmother after all. But than again, I thought of whether I would be sad because she has left us or because of the thought of death. Hopefully it is either the formal or both. Anyway, death shouldn’t be such a horrible thing. I mean why drag on with life when you are already relatively fulfilled with it. Sometimes life isn’t that great too, with all the struggles and hardships. Which is why, I don’t really like to judge people who choose to end their life.

I better stop now before I tread into unsafe boundaries. Off to do homework!

She's The Man :)

I shall not be bothered with whatever homework I have left for the week and just skip on to share about how I freaking flunk my mathematics test today. Haha, and to think that I felt well prepared for it, when I saw the bloody question paper, my mind was a total blank. I couldn’t even do the first question which was supposedly a bloody give away. Argh, what made things worse was that I totally misinterpreted the second question! I would be lucky if I even got a single mark for the damn quiz. Bah.

Feeling much better after resting yesterday, my fever seems to have subsided rather quickly. Oo, maybe I have some sort of mutant heeling gene or something. Oo. I think I have yet to adapt myself to school life. However, I take pride in the fact that I am actually able to keep up with work so far and am actually doing some of it instead of just waltzing into school every morning and copying my friends work. I didn’t even feel sleepy today when I first experienced Mr. Yang’s lesson since Miss Toh took over. That says a lot I tell you.

She’s the Man is an awesome movie! Go watch it before the run is over. GO NOW! Cineleisure is still showing it. Amanda Bynes got better looking even though she still isn’t very pleasant looking. At least she discovered push up bras and food. My god, she looked anorexic when she was young. The movie was fabulous in my opinion! I’m a sucker for shows like this, don’t really dig those action packed ones like Mission Impossible 3 or Poseidon. Although I occasionally enjoy shows like XMEN3 and Pirates of the Caribbean, every in Pirates of the Caribbean just somehow look better than they do in real life.

On the way home, I rediscovered something I thought of the last time but can’t really remember if I blogged about it. Singaporeans do not know the proper use of their mouths sometimes. I mean honestly, god gave them a mouth, use it! There is a word like EXCUSE ME, yes? I mean you don’t have to let your elbow or your bag or your oversized ass do the talking as you shove your way towards the exit of the MRT. Sheesh, instead of using it to say excuse me, they get annoyed and shoot their mouths off when people are somehow ignorant to their non verbal way of communicating.

Oh, I also noticed that Singapore either has nothing else better to show on channel 5 or they believe that Singaporeans are getting more depressed and require more self help. Maybe that’s the reason why they are showing more shows like OPRAH and some American show that’s hosted by this lesbian. The show by the lesbian starts next Monday and it’s at 5.00 in the evening.

It’s probably quite retarded saying this, but Singapore Idol wild card is starting! Haha, I shall go watch and laugh my ass off at Primero.

Bleh, this is like the third quiz that I am doing straight in a row. Not good, this either signals that nothing remotely interesting is going on in my life or I lost my flare to babble nonsense here. Of course there are still all the freaking tests to study for, but let’s not worry about them now shall we. Than there’s also RM, SIP, SL and Biology self-learning project hanging over everything else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lacklustre Saturday

Oh god, how wonderful is this. It’s one of those days again when I am stuck at home with a shit load of work to do. And instead of conscientiously doing them like the rest of the world, I’m lazing around watching television, stuffing my face with unnecessary fattening stuff and blogging when I should in actual fact be typing out my Language Arts essay. Bah.

My mom suggested going out with her to tampinese mall, but I am in no mood to wander around NTUC and help with the grocery shopping. On the other hand, if she had suggested shopping, I wouldn’t be one to turn that down now would I?

I think I’m growing even lazier than before. I mean like I was already very lazy to begin with, ever since I got accepted into IP, like I couldn’t really be bothered much about my secondary 2 results. Than when I entered IP I thought that there was always time to catch up, but by now, the end of my IP years are almost up and I am still slacking. I will probably start work tonight, I get rather lethargic in the morning and afternoon because I cannot fucking stand Singapore’s bloody weather!!!

Hopefully when school starts I can break out of my lazy disease and get down to doing constant revision or something. Oo, it would be nice to do well for the EOYS, or at least hit the average mark that is set in the report book at the end of every term. Maybe than, I will be able to truly enjoy the holidays and not have stupid R-papers dangling like a deadly pest that never goes away.

I must say that I haven’t been blogging as much as I did when there was still school to go to. May be because I have been going out quite a lot this holiday and hence, I have never really made time to just sit down and blog. By the time I get home every night, I’m just too tired to sit in front of the computer and formulate my thoughts. Instead, now I turn to my trusty little note book which I have bought recently. I must say that it’s proven to be quite useful since I can like whip it out anywhere and start writing, no need for computer or laptop to be at my disposal, no need for wireless access and no need to wait every time blogger screws up. Of course, I will still be blogging, I mean like the notebook is suppose to be just for random thoughts that spew into my head every now and than. I suppose this blog will still hold priority over the note book which will probably be neglected once school starts.

Anyway, I’m getting really bored being online, there’s no one to talk to because the people I know all have lives during the weekend. There’s nothing remotely interesting to see online, everyone has been to lazy to update too, or at least the more interesting blogs that I frequently haunt. I’ve even resorted to viewing those mundane blogs that have terrible English just for some cheap thrills to keep me alive before I die from boredom. I’ve grown quite sick of SIMS2 and now wouldn’t be a right time to start getting addicted to it again, since school is reopening and all. I’ve completed kingdom hearts 2 and reading my book for too long will give me a migraine. My house is too far from any place that is interesting to go and if I do go out, I expect to spend a good deal of time outside and not just spending like half an hour travelling and fifteen minutes of fun before returning home. I found some quiz somewhere and since I am really desperate for any forms of amusement, I shall do it.

Compulsary STAYover =D

Went to Kbox today, hopefully we aren’t addicted to it or something.

I’ve yet to blog about the stay over that we had this holiday, so I shall get down to it. Maybe than, I will actually get down to doing my homework and like start planning on how to study for End of Years Exams.

I woke up at 12.00 on the day of the stay over because I wanted to make sure that I would be awake throughout the whole stay over. Technically it’s supposed to be stay over because we are not to sleep. Hence the term sleepover would no longer be relevant. Travelled all the way down to marina square to meet Yvonne, Yu Hui and Audrey. We walked around for a while, looking for Yu Hui’s knee guards, which was also the reason why we travelled all the way to city hall before the stay over. In the end, she didn’t get it. -.-

We made our way to Audrey’s house after that and met Nicole at tampinese interchange. According to Yvonne, we are getting intellectual because we have been playing Chinese chess for two days straight. Oo. Haha, we sort of got bored after that and involved Yu Hui and Nicole in a rousing game of boggle. We left around early evening to get our dinners from Tampinese Mall. Met up with Amanda and YY at East point, where we stopped at NTUC to get even more food. We had to make sure we were well prepared to stuff ourselves throughout the night. Lol. Let’s see, I suppose it wasn’t much. We got ourselves each a packet of cup noodles, two packets of chips and three tubs of ice cream (two rum and raisin, one cookies and cream).

Finally had dinner in Darren’s living room at around nine at night, by than, the soccer match had started and people were mindlessly watching it, including me! Haha. I can’t really remember who was playing against who since I only watched it so as not to be a wet blanket. When that was over, the mah-jong table was brought down and a game of bridge was started. Somewhere along the night, someone suggested watching the Davinci code. I heard that it was boring and not a really nice watch, however after hearing YY explain what the whole story was about, I was quite interested and stopped playing mah-jong to watch it. But another soccer match had started and we ended up just watching like 1/3 or ¼ of the movie. ><’’

So it was back to more mah-jong and bridge while the soccer match was going on. I managed to convince everyone to watch Scary Movie 4. Haha, it was too slapstick for their liking and I think it actually put some people to sleep. Miss congeniality 2 was next on the agenda, but having watched it a gazillion times, I feel asleep before the movie even started.

Woke up quite frightened the next morning when I heard Darren’s mom. We weren’t supposed to have slept in the living room. However, everyone got too exhausted and we just plopped ourselves there for the night. Immediately I sat up and when opportunity showed itself, I rushed up to his room before his mom got further ticked off.

Washed up and packed our bags, we then left for parkway because we were going to Kbox. First time in my life going to sing karaoke, I was both excited and nervous. Haha, nervousness was because I didn’t want to kill the whole horde of them with my cawing. Things were rather weird at first, like no one was really comfortable singing into the microphone. We did, however, get this really huge room which again, is literally bigger than my room. ><’’ Anyway, people started to ease up and soon, we were rushing to sing as many songs as possible. Our rooms got changed in the middle of everything, maybe because they decided to squeeze us into a smaller room. Bitches.

Yvonne, Audrey and I met Darren after everything for dinner since he was in school doing Invigorate related stuff with the CT reps. The day basically ended after that. Of course, today was like the sequel of our stay over. Haha, instead this time we went to Orchard Cineleisure and it was harder to get everyone to go this time. ><’’ However, we did manage to get as many as we could and it wasn’t bad at all. Aaron went this time (: Just think of songs like beautiful and my heart will go on, you’ll understand. Haha.

trip to OZtralia [part 2]

[[ context: date in which this entry started being typed out was 14 june 2006, last wednesday. ><'']]

Okay, so I have at least blogged about the first three days of the trip! Haha, just came back from a primary school gathering at tampinese mall today. Oh my god, two days of buffets, I am going to grow even more, if it even possible that is. (Sakae yesterday and Seoul Garden today) I realize that there isn’t much left of the holidays and I still have some unfinished homework to do. Hopefully I can enjoy the rest of this week and start rushing the work after that. Would you believe it, I watched X Men 3 for the second time yesterday! >< Okay, on with the rest of the trip.

Day 4
Today was when we made our impossibly long trip to Canberra. We actually woke up late in the morning and had to inhale our food when we finally got down to the café for breakfast. It was an awfully long trip there (as the naggy me as already mentioned) and we were fairly restless in the tiny bus with rules that limited what we could do. There was this rule that said we had to wear our seatbelts whenever the vehicle was moving. Evidently, being the slightly rebellious people that we are, no one really abided to the rule after the first few days. And it was because of the boredom that we had to endure with, that the whole story cum guessing game started. Sleeping was definitely something else that many partook in too.

We had our first pit stop at the Kambarra Winery. I was wondering if there was any meaning in the misspelling of Canberra, but I didn’t really get down to inquiring about it. We didn’t really get to see the vineyards and like walk among all the wine grapes. What we had was a detailed explanation about how their wine is brewed and I remember one interesting fact that was mentioned. The guy, whom some girls were swooning over, mentioned that the barrels that some of the wine were kept in actually added flavour to the wine. After we went to see the machinery which helped brew the wine, we got to taste some. Though it was illegal for most of us there to taste the wine, the people there were nice enough to close one eye. Leanne and I had the most to drink because everyone else didn’t seem interested in finishing the glasses that were being passed around. We had three different types of white wine and a glass of red that had the nice oak barrel taste to it.

It wasn’t long before we reached our second stop for the day. It was the National Museum of Canberra. We had this lesson like workshop there with some of the staff of the museum. It wasn’t as boring as I had anticipated it to be. We had to work with the props that were presented to us and were to guess how the props represented the people’s relationship with the land etc. My table got a dead wallaby and some dead parrot. With the time that we had to wander the museum after the workshop, a group of us went trigger happy and started taking pictures all over the museum. In my opinion, I think the nicest one was the shot in the lift, which is huge I tell you. It is literally bigger than my room!

A few more hours of bus ride and we finally arrived at the motor inn. Apparently a bunch of whiney young Australian kids were on some road trip with their school. Being young and all, they seem to prefer to all room together instead of being spilt into rooms of three. So our rooms were switched with theirs and it was purportedly better because instead of six to a room, we were now three or two to a room. However, the guys wanted to all room together, so a mattress was moved from the Matts’ room to ours and I shared the queen sized bed with Foo again. Poor Foo left his luggage at Aaron’s hotel. I shall be politically correct here and not bitch about the whole issue. However, I must say that I totally didn’t think that it was his sole fault or even hugely his fault that his luggage was left behind. Fortunately, the slightly irritating tour guide, whom I have no idea why she is our tour guide to begin with, managed to contact the place and confirm that his luggage was still there.

The food at the motor inn was bloody disgusting! At least the first meal there was. It consisted of terribly flaky fish fingers and boiled vegetables, with no seasoning whatsoever. In light of the fact that there was no MysteriOz and that a trail of words ended early, the teachers brought us to this supermarket to buy some stuff to eat. We sort of got lost on the way there, but eventually we found the place. Benjamin and I shared some 2.25 litre bottle of Pepsi, I think. No surprise why they have such high obesity rates there.

Day 5
We got to visit the national capital exhibition today. Our itinerary was sort of reorganized today because we wanted, or the teachers wanted to fit in this timeslot for us to see how the opposition party/parties of the country hold political debates with the ruling party. The national capital exhibition was mundane in all definition of the word. I can’t tell you what was going on there because I didn’t pay attention, at all. The only thing I heard or truly looked at was the little model of the capital city that they had made for an overview of how the capital city was chosen and the reason behind some of the designs they had pointed out. When the man, or was it woman, finished rattling about some random stuff, we got to tour the place and cam whored with some of the views outside the place.

We had MysteriOz 3 after that. It was basically just some time for us to do some shopping. I bought this like semi-formal shirt to wear when we go to watch the Hanging Man a few days later. That was pretty much the only thing I bought there, the stuff there were just too expensive for me to purchase. Had another fast food lunch because we didn’t know what else to eat and we left soon after.

The parliament house was next on our list and we got like some grand tour of their different rooms in which their little debates take place. Debates may not be the word to use, but if it were supposed to be some other word, I can’t think of it. Anyway, I was probably really tired that day and I fell asleep when the woman was ranting on about their country’s politics. Photo taking was limited to a few rooms only and we had to declare our cameras at least twice at the bloody place.

The debate between the opposition and ruling party was interesting to watch. The opposition party would bluntly and crudely put forth a question to the ruling party, one at a time, and they would laugh loudly and maliciously whenever the question has been asked. It was all very rowdy and the head of the debates or whatever he is called, he was sitting in the middle of the debates, kept calling order but his calls were ignored more often than not. We left halfway because we were suppose to visit the last stop of the day.

Australian University was super interesting and I am interested in studying there! We had a lecture by this teacher there who taught international relations and I didn’t fall asleep! If I were to go to that school, that will be the subject I’d take up because it’s just so interesting. Sadly, I think my dreams of going there will not come true because of practicality sake. Supposedly the only job available if I take up that subject would be foreign affairs, something I am not really into. I guess boring NUS/NTU/SMU in Singapore will just have to do, that’s if I actually get in of course. We had a tour of the school and we were brought about by two students there. Even though the Asian guy was enthusiastically scary, I guess it would have been smarter if we asked him about stuff that still lies unanswered in our heads.

I found the whole idea of having to plan something both educational and interesting for the bus ride back to Sydney quite retarded. Like why can’t we be left alone to entertain ourselves in whatever means we please. And I guess I would have rather this not be an educational trip because there were other things I’d rather do than visit boring places like the Migrant center for example. Oh well.

We went to Mr.Lam’s room after that to drink the dessert wine! Haha! We managed to wipe out the contents of the bottle in a short amount of time and than it was off to the girls room to hang out for a while before we went back to our rooms to call it a day.

Day6
Supposedly one of the more memorable days in the whole entire trip, the first of our two stops for the day was the Deep Space Communication Center, which I think is somehow affiliated with NASA. Presumably cool, we just walked around looking at the small showcases of different satellites and what nots, and we got to watch some videos that the center had created. It wasn’t all that blow-me-away sort of interesting, but at least I didn’t fall asleep this time.

Our next stop, which was also our last for the day, was the Birrigai Aboriginal Center. I’m not sure what the link is, but Birrigai means laughter. Just for your information of course. Haha. Fortunately, before we were brought on any tour or forced to sit in on any lectures, we were provided with a barbequed lunch which had a sort of catering twist to it. If you don’t get what I mean, I shall try to explain it in a different way. Basically, we got to eat barbequed food, but it was served to us in a way that we would see when we cater food. Probably better to have it this way, in my opinion. I stuffed myself with all the chicken, beef and sausages because they were just so darn good. I can’t really say the same for the fried rice and pasta though, but at least I was satisfied at the end of the meal. :)

After lunch, we were brought into this lecture theatre where the presented to us all the different Aboriginal artifacts that they had gathered. There were things like mats, weapons and household items like a cradle. Oo. Oh, we also got a nice little souvenir free of charge. It was this bottle which we wrote our names on, and somehow I think it’s misplaced somewhere in my house. Haha.

Anyway, we were brought on this hike after the presentation. OH MY GOD! I can’t even stress the amount of faeces I stepped on when we went into the kangaroo enclosure. It was as bad, if not worse than the amount of faeces that was present when we went to the University Of Western Australian Farm School. We spent like the first half an hour stealthily walking around trying to take pictures of the kangaroos. Haha, I was amused by the way they hopped around and I think I managed to get close to only one or two kangaroos. The guide brought us along and we got to look at the different things of nature, like rock formations or special plants. It was really enjoyable to just like stroll around and enjoy the nice weather and beautiful scenery. Haha, and the wild spread of kangaroo faeces stopped after we went higher up, so that was quite pleasant too. We were allowed to pluck some of the plants and currently I have some eucalyptus leaves and tea tree oils in a zip lock bag, rotting somewhere on my desk.

The tour guide was really nice and warm and I think she made the experience so much more enriching. A trail of words that night was the presentation of all the different skits. My group had a rather impromptu one and it was quite obvious that it wasn’t well planned because everyone had no idea what to say. Bloody waste of time also la. I was down with sore throat and flu so I took medicine that night. So sad, I couldn’t help finish the last of the white wine because I will probably die if I mix alcohol and medicine.

Day7
Yay! We are heading back to the nice hotel today and Foo is going to get his luggage back. Haha. As retarded as it may seem, I was quite excited about visiting an orchard because it would be the first time that I go to one. We got to pick oranges there! However, I was more concerned with taking photos there, to capture all the nice memories, than to bother about filling my bag with oranges. Haha, there’s even a method to how to efficiently pluck the oranges off the trees. We got to see how the oranges were sorted into the different sizes and each of us got three free oranges to bring home!

MysteriOz 4, which was our last one for the trip, was free time for us to wander anywhere we wanted before we met up to go watch the Hanging Man. Somehow I lost the people I was walking with at Paddy Market and ended up walking around with the guys. I managed to get this nice jacket that I was hunting high and low for since I arrived in Australia. Funnily enough, the brands called Billion. Oo

Haha, we rushed back just with enough time to change, freshen up and get ourselves ready to watch the play. It was a long walk to Sydney Opera House and we got to take the Sydney Subway!!! Haha, it must have been very touristy of us, or at least me, to be fascinated with their trains and be snapping away like an idiot at their subway station.

We had lunch at the nearby cafés. Leanne and I shared sushi and a teriyaki chicken wrap. Yummy! Matthias bought this heavenly, sinful chocolate cake with an acquired taste that is to die for. Stuffed with the delicious dinner, we wandered around the place a while more before we headed in to watch the play. I feel sad to say this, but the play was very good and I actually feel asleep in it because I was too tired from all the late nights and early mornings!

Our last night in Australia, pigged out on cup noodles and the oranges that we got. Pretty much spent the rest of the night packing before hitting the sack.

Day8
Our last day in Australia and we spent it sightseeing. -.-‘’ We managed to get down and visit the Sydney beach. Of course on our way there, we stopped by the nearby shops to look out for cheap stuff. There was this shop that had some sort of clearance sale. Everything there was below $10. Of course I didn’t buy everything there; I for one don’t see the point in getting the DVDs that were on sale because I have never heard of a single one of those shows before. Oo.

What others have once said about the surf brands there costing the same as Singapore is true. And even if it were cheaper, it would be about only $2 cheaper? I probably learnt that after the first few days there so we pretty much skipped all the surf shops after that and headed down to the beach. It was so nice; they had nice fine sad and beautiful waves. The view was spectacular and it supposedly was an experience to deep your feet in their waters. However, only Ben and Yvonne managed to deep their feet into the sea because the rest of us weren’t as hazardous. The water must have been freezing and their shoes were soaked. In the end they walked barefooted, all the way to the ferry that we were taking.

I feel so sad. I should have gone on the deck of the ferry along with some others. Apparently the view was very nice. Instead, I spent the ferry ride sitting down, resting and playing cards with a few others who were as stupid as me for not going up.

The Rocks Market was somewhat disappointing. Sure the things there were nice and all, but there wasn’t anything that was worth buying. I ended up buying three bars of fudge. Haha, oh I also got myself strawberry and marshmallow fondue. Leanne on the other hand, got herself corn on cob. At least the food there was nice.

We left for the airport soon after, but not before stopping at some scenic place to take photos for the last time. Haha, my luggage put on 8 kilograms!!! When I left Singapore, it was only 13 kilograms. Yet when I left Australia, it was 21 kilograms! Haha, thank god it was only like 1 kilogram above the standard weight and I didn’t have to pay like extra charge or something.

Haha, I assumed that the flight back to Singapore would be faster, since it usually seems shorter when you are returning home. However, it may have been because I was looking forward to returning to Singapore, hence the air plane ride seemed even longer! Haha, anyway I was glad to return home to Singapore. Immediately ate noodles that my mom cooked when I got home. Than it was off to sleep on my own bed!

I guess this pretty much ends my trip to Australia. If I get the chance, I will definitely go back again, only next time there will probably be nothing educational about it. Heez*

trip to OZtralia [part 1]

[[ Since it is seemingly impossible for me to upload the bloody pictures I took onto my entries, kindly refer to the link on the navigation bar to view them. ]]

Yes! I have finally gotten down to blog about the trip to Australia. Actually I had time to probably squeeze in an entry for the first few days, but I was too lazy or too engrossed with playing Kingdom Hearts 2. Oh, and on a random side note, Jasmine Tye made it to the top 12 for Singapore Idol! Yay! Haha, okay I better begin before the babbling continues.

Day 1
Would it even be appropriate to call it a whole day? Haha, met up earlier with some people at Delifrance. We more or less idled and wandered around the airport until it was finally time to board the plane. I can’t really remember the exact time that we went onto the plane, but I do know that we were actually asked to arrive two hours early. There was a damn bloody flight delay because the pilot claimed that the wind at Sydney was strong. Oo, yes I know it is unforeseen circumstances, but what a wonderful to start the trip. A forty minute delay mind you.

It was Mr. Lam’s birthday! Happy Birthday Mr. Lam! Benjamin was sent to get him a cake. Haha, when we were lighting the candle, I was wondering if the fire alarms would go off. Somehow I think the flame was too small, so we were saved from a drenching.

The flight was a long eight hours, at least for in my opinion. I know that the flight to other places will take longer, however eight hours was already enough to torture me. I cannot imagine how I survived the (was it) 13 hour flight to UK the other time. Thankfully I managed to carefully plan out my flight so that I only had to endure about two hours of pure stoning. I spent the first two to two and a half hours watching “Rumour Has It” whilst eating airplane food. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate airplane food? It makes me sick. Anyway, I spent the next hour in the toilet! Haha, here’s a secret people. If you have a long flight, spend at least an hour in the toilet. It has more leg space than those cheapo Economy seats and you can have fun playing with all the toiletries. Than it was about fours hours of sleep before I waited awhile more for the plane to land.

Day 2
We finally landed and I must say, their customs check in was scary. The way they checked for food items was as if the food items were bombs. Haha. The weather was a bit too cold for comfort, but after cladding on a jacket, it was livable.

Our first stop was the Sydney Fish Market. The delay in the flight made us miss the actual auctioning of the fish. Not that I was particularly dismayed or anything. However, we still had the time to wander around the place, looking at the raw seafood and listening to the women go on about the different types of fish etc. Boring in my opinion, the highlight of the whole visit was the part where we got to actually eat the seafood. Of course, the people were bloody cheapskates and we had to buy the food. The oysters were divine, or at least I thought so.

The next visit was to the Ecoliving Center near New South Wales. The tour was too long and the best part was that we were walking throughout the whole thing. I mean yes, its interesting to learn how they make use of their waste materials to fertilize their plants and to keep their soil moist etc. But come on, one to nearly two hours of farming tips?

The visit to the Ecoliving center was followed up by going down to the University of New South Wales. The talk, which I estimate to be half an hour, totally wiped out everyone, and I mean everyone. Even Miss Low and our annoying tour guide were nodding off. If you think that lessons in school are boring, you should have gone for the talk. Let’s put it this way, I have never slept in class before and the talk at UNSW put me to sleep instantaneously. The tour of the campus was surprisingly refreshing though. Just looking at their facilities makes me want to study there. Of course, I have to think about the practicality of studying there and if I weigh the pros and cons, I’d be better off staying in Singapore.

Aaron’s hotel wasn’t as shabby as I expected it to be, and Chinatown in Sydney is absolutely not what I picture it to be. There were two bunk beds and a queen size bed in the hotel. No prizes for guessing who got the queen size bed. Haha.

We had MysteriOz one which turned out to be a game of trying out the various types of auctions. My group, namely Rachel, Yvonne and I, won a twenty or ten dollar Swensons voucher. Which reminds me, Chia Yvonne, is the voucher with you?!

Our first day in Australia and we had Chinese food for dinner! Haha.

There was this talk by a former Victorian who had chosen to study in Sydney. For those who are interested, she is studying in UNSW and she is taking up some speech therapy course. Her subject combination in VJ was History, Literature, Economics and Mathematics. :)

Lights out was at eleven that day and we wrapped up everything by 8.30 to 9.00pm. So we were given some free time to wander by ourselves. Darling Harbour is beautiful. To somewhat quote someone, it’s like Singapore River done right. I went camera crazy there and attempted to take as many pictures as possible. However, my awesome camera limited what I could take. Here are a few photos to illustrate how we killed our free time there.

Day 3
I had my first poached something in my life and it turned out to be poached eggs. I heard of poached salmon before, wonder what I will taste like. The poached eggs were nice; it is like dry on the outside and wet on the inside. Yummy!
Another boring visit for the scrapbook, the talk at Sydney Inner West Migrant Center was not only mind-numbing, but we had to stand all the way through the whole talk which was nearly an hour. I felt compelled to ask questions every time Miss Low starts looking around because there seems to be this pressure to ask something lest she come lecture us the very same night about how we are not involved etc. It will probably just spoil the mood of the trip or something.

Lunch was surprise surprise, Chinese food again. Not very well organized I suppose. They should have save all the Chinese meals for the end of the trip when people start to really miss it, not when we can’t wait to get away from it. We had a bit of time for shopping and there was this mad rush to get stuff there because their merchandises were so cheap. I shan’t say how cheap though, because some of the souvenirs were bought from there. Haha.

Then we set of on a really long bus ride to the University of Western Australia Farm School. Again, it looked like a nice place to study, but I for one am not interested, especially since they are so involved with the animals there. Do you know that when we went in to see the deer, there was shit everywhere? And I mean literally everywhere!!! It was frightening to see so much shit. I have never come across so many faeces in my life before, at least not all at once. Anyway, the place was very science based too and I think I have more or less decided that I want to do something that borders more along humanities.

We traveled back to the hotel and walked to Mama’s kitchen some place (which I cannot remember the name of, it’s Mama something) for dinner. Finally something western, a big plate of bolognaise. Playing twenty one with the whole group wasn’t a good idea. It ended up to be quite draining and I think I gave up somewhere along the way. MysteriOz 2 was brief. We just had to take photos of things that made the street that we were at Italian or something.

I realized that I forgot to mention that we had A Trail of Words for both day 2 and 3. However, it is just uninteresting discussions about what happened in the day, like a recap if you will. So there’s no use blogging about them.

[ to be contd ]
