3 Generation Gathering

Rah, I’m too impatient to wait any longer for the photos to be sent to me before I blog about House Comm. 3 Generation gathering. Or as we like or don’t like to call it, 3G Gathering, haha.

I started the day with a visit to CGH to visit my grandfather. It was my first time at a hospital since the day I was born so I felt quite lost that. However, my mom navigated around the place like a pro and we managed to find my grandfather in record time. He looked like how I’d imagine him to look, weak on the bed with tubes inserted in him. It was painful to watch. But I guess the good news is that the doctor said he is getting better, so he’ll live.

My parents dropped me off at tanah merah after that even though they could have fetched me to school. Why I asked them to drop me off at tanah merah instead of at school, you ask. Because I had to meet Wang Yu Hui so that she could pass me Photoshop! Haha, I’ve wanted to borrow it since I got my computer back so I made sure I borrowed it from her the first chance I had. Took a train with her to bedok and alighted to catch a bus ride to school.

My MP3 ran out of battery so I expected a rather long boring ride to school. Thankfully I ran into Li Qin on the bus and we chatted until we reached the canteen. Haha, I forgot who was the one who said it, but House Comm. should be notorious for having the worse punctuality EVER! Haha, we were all supposed to meet at 2.00 but people were coming at 2.30, 3.00 and even later. So we hung around the canteen, went to look at the painted banners, sat and gossiped until we had enough people to rehearse the skit.

Whoa, there are some serious ugly in the classroom containing all the banners. However, I did like the one which was already completed. I think it was Althea’s OG, letter O. I can’t remember the name of it though. Haha, I can’t believe one OG painted their entire banner with base paint. Lol, oh well, I’m sure most of them will turn out to be quite nice still, at least not as bad as the animagus banner. Now that was ugly, but unique at the same time I suppose. I mean it was the only banner that really stood out during this year’s O1, or at least to me it did.

Anyway, the skit was really short, like seriously short, and we finished rehearsals in like 15 minutes. So we made our way to the concourse to arrange the tables and chairs for dinner later that day. We took a while to decide the best possible way to arrange everything so that everyone could talk to as many people as possible. It was still early than so I went to the tree house with Bernice and Amelia to talk even more. As fun as it looks to sit on the bridge, it isn’t. Haha, you had to stick your leg through one of the ropes at the side if not you run the risk of sliding down. I think it wouldn’t have been as bad if the bridge was straight all the way.

We went back to the concourse to laze around even more before the seniors started pouring in. Li Qin and I were delegated the task of making the seniors register while at the same time getting them to fork out $5 each. We performed our lame skit and it was dinner time! The food was okay, there were some that were nice and some that weren’t so nice. Overall I would say that it was good. There was éclairs, the really good ones that Mrs Jay gets for us whenever we have guest speakers around; there was also almond jelly with longan, my favourite dessert. Those two dishes were enough to keep me satisfied; I think I had 3 bowls of almond jelly, haha.

We also got our House Comm. shirts that day. We wanted to all wear it and we were cutting it quite close when the person brought the shirts when the seniors had already arrived. So it was a mad rush to get changed and what I will never understand is why were all the toilets locked except the guys’ one?! I mean that is just stupid, we had girls cramming into the toilet to change and before that, there were girls in the guys’ toilet washing paint brushes. I mean the school must be quite stupid locking toilets especially since they know that students DO come back during the school holidays.

We watched all the House Comm. videos after dinner on a laptop. Haha, it was quite pathetic because we were supposed to have gotten a projector. But at the last minute, Mr. Robert Yeo who seems to always be around school wasn’t around that day. So everyone just crammed around the laptop to watch the videos. I want those videos! But I think they are with some grand senior who I don’t know. :(

We ended off the night by playing 21. Haha, it was quite hard to get the game started because we had no container to hold the water and there weren’t enough cups to go around. So we improvised and use the huge bowl that once held the almond jelly and we use the excess cups that we had for eating the almond jelly. The water tasted weird because there were still chunks of almond jelly inside swirling around. We sat on the floor for some reason even though there were chairs around.

Haha, it’s quite fun playing 21 with a new group of people for a change because the rules they set were totally different from those you normally get. Like Lydia made this rule that we couldn’t talk but had to sing instead. That was funny, and Ya Wen made this rule that for each number we said, we had to stick out one leg. Haha, the funniest part was when Emily said she couldn’t because she was wearing skirt. As usual, the noisiest were the ones who drank the most. We wrapped up at about 9.30 because the caterer had come to collect back all the trays etc.

Took 31 home with some of the house people and got a lift back home from Althea’s mom. Hopefully I get to bug the people who have the photos to send them to me soon.
